How to overcome writer's blockArticle about overcoming writer's block and how to do it. Writer’s Block: A Problem That Requires Active Extermination - This post was written by Veronica Let’s talk about writer’s block. Writer’s block, besides being one of the most dreaded writing ills around, is also sometimes referred to as creative block. It can occur with anything from writing a novel, poem or an article to drawing a picture or painting a piece of art. Sometimes it will even happen when you are speaking in public or carrying out some other task where you are expected to speak up loud. Writer’s block can be a complex thing to understand. It is often caused by an overworked brain. In the past, it was said that a writer’s block was a sign of genius. However, with age and more knowledge about writing, we have learned that it is not a sign of genius but a sign of total lack of creativity at work. Still, there are techniques you can employ to dispel writer’s block and get your words flowing on paper or on screen again. In fact there is no definitive cure for writer's block but there are proven ways on how you can work out this problem on your own without paying some stranger to cure it for you. 1. Read, read and read some more This is the most basic step. It doesn't matter if it is romance novels, biographies or crime novels, reading will not only open up your mind but also bring clarity to the chaos within your mind. You may also want to look at some relevant articles or blogs for writing related stuffs before you turn on your computer again. 2. Clear your mind A big part of writer's block is that your brain is not thinking right. So you need to clear your mind of what's bothering you. The best way to do it is to take a short break. If the problem has spilled over into work, take a short break outside the office and come back to work fresh-faced and refreshed. 3. Write about something other than your problem You may be having some trouble working on the very subject you are trying to write about. Even if you think you can't write about other topics, try it out anyway. Write down 10 pages of nonsense but try to bring it into the right topic once again after that chapter ends 4. Write a story Writing a story will help get your creative juices flowing once again. You can get ideas from many sources, from movies to TV shows or even from real life. People often forget that writing a story is not all about fiction and make-believe. Both fiction and non-fiction come from the same place of imagination and it is all about using your imagination to make things more interesting for readers. 5. Read a novel of your choice Reading a book by an established author is one of the best ways in how to write better when you are suffering from writer’s block, believing it will guide you on how to conquer this problem when you yourself are suffering the same problem. 6. cfa1e77820
